Epilogue
Our voyage to the Land of Oz had ended. If we harbored any lingering doubt about whether this adventure was truly over, it would have been decisively squelched by the unseasonable light snowfall that graced our neighborhood the following morning.
Despite the many air miles we had traversed during the past two weeks, far in excess of the distance I have covered in any previous travels, the reality is that we only managed to take in a small sampling of the Australian continent. We weren’t able to visit Brisbane or Darwin, even though we did make it to other destinations in the respective states where each of these cities is situated. We never ever set foot in the states of South Australia, Tasmania or Western Australia, in which the cities of Adelaide, Hobart and the especially remote Perth are located, or in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), site of Canberra, Australia’s national capital. And, of course, there’s New Zealand, relatively nearby on a global scale, with its totally different and unique features and attractions. Who knows, however? Any or all of these might someday appear on our itinerary in future travels.
